On Sept. 2 State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki was asked if joining a designated terrorist group is something you lose your passport for and she responded “It’s not as black and white as that.”
On September 4th Marie Harf the State Department deputy spokesperson said when asked if being a member of a designated terrorist organization would get your passport revoked and she responded “it does not automatically mean your passport will be revoked.”
I would highly suggest you contact your local Senator and Congressmen to let them know that we want this policy changed.
