Dem Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu said her campaign reimbursed the federal government almost $34,000 for flights she took that included political fundraising events dating to 2002 and fraudulently. Landrieu stated Saturday that she takes full responsibility for her actions stemming from mistakes and “Sloppy Bookkeeping”
In February 2002 rules change on flights that include both campaign and business and as such trips must be paid for from campaign funds and not at taxpayer expense. If 15% or more of the trip is campaign related then the Senator must pay the percentage of costs associated with campaigning.
This likely spells the end of her time and a US Senator. The question we have here at ElectLeaders.com is if she will be charged criminally for mail fraud, wire fraud, and embezzlement?
