The Barack H. Obama Foundation
Lois Lerner, the senior IRS official at the center of multiple investigations as the result of targeting Obama’s political opponents for burdensome tax scrutiny, herself signed paperwork granting tax-exempt status to the Barack H. Obama Foundation, a charity headed by the president’s half-brother that operated illegally for two years.
According to the the Barack H. Obama Foundation filings, Lerner approved the foundation’s tax status one month after the filing, an unheard of timeline. She (IRS) made the non-profit status retroactive to ensure criminal charges could not be brought against the Barack H. Obama Foundation which had been operating illegally for 2 years.
“The Obama Foundation raised money on its web page by falsely claiming to be a tax deductible for 2 years. This bogus charity run by Malik had not even applied and yet subsequently got retroactive tax-deductible status,” Ken Boehm, chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center described Malik Obama’s attempt to raise money as constituting “common law fraud and potentially even federal mail fraud.” “They were a sham charity,” he said. “You would think that would be a reason for more questions and scrutiny, and not a fast pass to go through the speedy line. All of that together just didn’t smell right. They were getting much faster service than average 501(c)(3) applicant.”
It is unclear what the Barack H. Obama Foundation does. Its website claims they have built a madrassa and was building a imam’s house.
